Iloilo City 6th place in Gawad Pangulo sa KapaligiranEven if Iloilo City only landed in the sixth place in the 2004 Gawad Pangulo sa Kapaligiran highly urbanized category, Mayor Jerry Treñas believes their effort is paying off. Treñas hopes that Iloilo City will get the first place in the next quest for the clean and greenest city in the country. General Santos City ranked first and followed by Davao. Olongapo City was third. Cebu which is the Queen City of the South ranked 4 th . Iligan City was on the 5 th place. Zamboanga City landed on the 7 th spot, Lucena was on the 8 th place and Butuan on the 9 th place In the provincial level, Iloilo province got the 3 rd place. The first place went to the province of Bukidnon while Ilocos Norte was 3 rd . Bohol was 4 th and Nueva Vizcaya on the 5 th place. In the component city category, Roxas City placed second. The first place went to Antipolo while Ormoc City on the 3 rd place. Dumaguete ranked 4 th and Surigao 5 th . Passi City, the only component city of Iloilo was not included in the list of finalist. In the 2004 Gawad Pangulo sa Kapaligiran, first to third class municipality level, the town of Calinog landed only on the fourth spot. In the previous search for cleanest and greenest town in first to third class municipality, Calinog was always on the top level. Medellin, Cebu got the first place while Pangantucan in Bukidnon was 2 nd and Agoo, La Union on the third. In the fourth to sixth class municipality level, Banga in Aklan was third. The first place went to Kibawe, Bukidnon while Casiguran, Sorsogon was second. In the rivers category, the Bugang River in Pandan, Antique was on the 3 rd spot. Catingas River in San Fernando Romblon was first while Bulusan River in Bulusan, Sorsogon was second. The cities of Ormoc and Olongapo also grabbed the cleanest public market restroom in the city category. |
