A sweet arrest at Sandbar Island

Serenity is always something we long for. With the fast-paced lifestyle we have, experiencing a burnout is not far from normal. Living in an urban area means living an upbeat lifestyle with all the noise surrounding us, and there is the the pollution that is undeniable. Usually people's idea of distressing is by going to discotheques, coffee shops and most hit the malls on their free time.

Often these things are done as part of a routine and we tend to feel there is still something missing. At times we don't understand why we want a break despite the piles of work that we have. We want peace to figure things out; a place where we can introspect and relax. The place you want is Sandbar Island.

This is a privately-owned island with a 21-hectare area and is only 30 minutes away from the mainland of Concepcion, Iloilo. It is ideal for swimming, snorkeling, fishing and more. It's also perfect for family vacations, honeymoons, tourists and everyone. Anyone who comes here would also find this place breathtakingly extraordinary.

It has the kind of warmth that welcomes guests, visitors and friends. People who want to be in deep meditation or those who want a quiet place to be alone, the island is just perfect for them. One can sit at the shore, look at the blue sky and listen to the waves. Retreats and recollections are also welcome in the island.

Another unique feature of the island is the shifting white sandbar that is created by the current. Its tail would shift from left to right or the other way around depending on the direction of the wind. It's also a home for ‘Tabon Birds'. These birds would lay their eggs on the sand where they will be incubated. What's good news too, is that people can enjoy the island anytime of the year. Its whole year round beauty is a prominence for people to visit.
