The province of Antique has set a new record as the first province in Region VI to complete the installation of the E-NGAS or the Electronic New Government Accounting System. This was bared during the exit conference for the implementation of the program held last July 7 at the New Provincial Capitol.

Aside from the distinction as the first province in Region VI with an E-NGAS, Commission on Audit Assistant Commissioner Carmela S. Perez disclosed that the province has finished the installation of the program in a “record breaking time of one and a half month, thus Antique is also the first province to have the Exit conference on the implementation of the program.

Dir. Sheila U. Villa of COA Region VI, on the other hand, said that Antique will be the region's showcase in the implementation of the program. She also lauded the provincial government for the warm acceptance of the program, which she said, will promote “transparent and accountable accounting system”.

On her acceptance speech, Gov. Salvacion Z. Perez asserted that the implementation of the Electronic – New Government Accounting System is part of her priority of instituting reforms to the bureaucracy in the provincial government. With this system, she is positive that the provincial government would be able to provide faster and efficient service to the Antiqueños.

Having finished the implementation at a record-breaking time, Gov. Perez said, “This is something that we should be proud of”. She likewise rallied that local government units in the province should also install the E-NGAS and the Provincial Accountant's Office will soon be the showcase on how the program works.

E-NGAS is a computerized system developed by the Commission on Audit that embodies reforms and changes prescribed in the New Government Accounting System. This is to ensure competent and timely recording and reporting of government financial transactions resulting to more efficient government operations.

Both the local leaders laud the historic launching of the new accounting system and capitol employees present in the ceremony, describing the program as a milestone in the province's quest for efficient and speedy delivery of basic services within the framework of transparency and good governance, cornerstones of Gov. Perez' administration.
