Who's Who at CPU Centennial Celebration
Thousands of Centralians from all over America, Canada, Europe, Asia, the Pacific and Latin American countries will converge at the 24-hectare campus of the 100-year old institution in Barangay San Isidro, Jaro, this city, starting July 30. Alumni taking planes, boats and land transportation keep pouring in hotels, pension houses, motels, private homes and apartments as early as middle of July. The 80 th , 70 th , 60 th , 50 th , 40th, 30 th , 20 th jubilarians will joyfully gather together around the campus and reminisce the happy old days in their alma mater. Maybe there are a few centenarian alumni who might come but probably most of them in wheelchairs. And these are the most distinguished alumni whom the university will recognize as they blaze the trail for the present and future Centralians. The following prominent alumni selected by the Awards Committee, chaired by Demy P. Sonza, Glenn A.M. Catedral, M.D. and President Juanito M. Acanto, of the CPU Alumni Association, Inc. to receive the Distinguished Centralian Awards are: Fernando P. Arendain, Real Estate Business; Eby L. Bañas, Neurology; Ferjenel G. Diesto, Jr., Theology and Christian Ministry; Milagros V. Dignadice, Business Education; Janelle Bermejo Duremdes, Pediatrics; Generoso D. Duremdes, Surgery; Daniel G. The theme of the centennial celebration is “Excel for God's Greatest Glory!” There are glorious activities lined up for the occasion which started on July 8 and up to Decemder 2005. Centennial Reunion Week will be from July 31, to August 7, 2005 with the registration at 8:00 A.M. of July 31 at the Promenade and followed by the Centennial Worship Service, Otoniel Gonzaga Concert, Swimming Competition, Soccer Men, Centennial Alumni Ball, Women's Soccer, Volleyball Men, Skydiving Exhibition, Cheer Dance Competition, Grand Centennial Reunion on August 5 at 5:00 P.M. and Grand Fireworks Show, Boracay Cruise and lots of other heart-warming and joyous activities.
