Resource learning facilities benefit elementary & primary schoolsBtac. Nuevo, Iloilo—Pupils of 20 public elementary schools here can now have access in using computer technology after the local government unit of Barotac Nuevo through its Local School Board distributed personal computers with complete accessories as well as encyclopedias and dictionaries recently. Antonia Bedia, District Supervisor of Barotac Nuevo expressed gratitude for the continuing support and attention being given by the municipal government in the improvement of education in their locality. “Last year, the local government has also distributed educational materials and this year, all the 20 elementary schools of the town are beneficiaries of personal computers, encyclopedias and dictionaries while the 5 primary schools also received complete sets of such kind of learning materials”, said Bedia. Bedia recognized the importance of computer technology in upgrading the learning capacity of their pupils. “The computer learning will enable them to compete with the environment in which the trend right now is globalization technology. This is a step towards it as we go along”, she said. Bedia said all these elementary schools in the municipality have electricity. What these schools further need is some funds for training of teachers in computer literacy. The 20 recipients are: Barotac Nuevo Central Elementary School, Acuit Elementary School, Agcuyawan-Calsada Elementary School, Agcuyawan-Pulo Elementary School, Baras Elementary School, Cabilawan Elementary School, Guintas Elementary School, Jalaud Elementary School, Lanas Elementary School, Licoan Elementary School, Linao-Cruz Elementary School, Monpon Elementary School, Patag Elementary School, Salihid Elementary School, Sohoton Elementary School, So-ol Elementary School, Tabucan Elementary School, Talisay Elementary School, Tinurian Elementary School and Tiwi Elementary School. On the other hand the 5 primary schools that are beneficiaries of encyclopedia and dictionaries include Juan S. Siochi Primary School, Igbong Primary School, Palasiawan Primary School, Bagongbong Primary School and Tubungan Primary School. The local government of Barotac Nuevo has spent P1,395,625 for the project that aims amongst others to supplement the needs of the teachers in teaching their pupils in the public schools. This is also to expose the children to adequate resource learning materials when they do their homework and assignments. Mayor Pedro B.
