Res Gestae

Not my sister alone

This piece can stand in itself. I may suggest, however, that you have to read first last Friday's issue to keep you on track with this present one.

“TSKI foolicy” was a big heat (I mean, hit)! With more than 30 text messages received that day alone (not counting the emails), I have no doubt that many have shared in my sentiments towards that particular actuation of TSKI Manager in Leon Branch. I need to clarify that I don't really know that Manager in person. And, I am not in authority to judge her. Did I sound judgmental at “TSKI foolicy”? If you think I was, you have to read that article again. Maybe twice or more. Until you get into the thought of each word and sentence.

I won't sing here my gratitude to those who admire my confidence in that endeavor. I already prayed for them, as always. The reason that I give the issue another shot today is to make my line straight. What was really the reason in my writing “TSKI foolicy”? When some think that the said article was only meant to protect my sister, then I beg to disagree. Though, I hope, she will benefit from it. But, more than saving my sister from the clutches of unforeseen danger, my piece was rather altruistic. Many texters, whom I suspect, are employees of TSKI informed me that they too were for many times (did I read it, everyday?) stayed late in the evening collecting payments. They must not have told me that. But, don't you understand why they told me that rather than pouring out their sentiments to TSKI Human Resource Department? Maybe because I listen, and so concerned.

Now, to whom it may concern: Alone or not, collecting payments from clients in the evening, if not illegal, is unsafe, improper and much more non-Christian. Do I have to elaborate further to be understood? So, if you think I was too protective of my sister, think again... and again. But, I'm sure, I dealt the issue objectively as I could.

Another, why did I bring the issue public when talking it with the concerned manager can thresh out the matter? Well, I say it again, “TSKI foolicy” was not meant to protect my sister alone neither it was intended to correct that manager ALONE. It was purposely to put an end to a particular kind of practice that becomes acceptable (or even turned into a policy) because no one dares to question its validity and appropriateness. Well, if you are dying to land a job, kapit ka sa patalim . At, kung di mo na kaya, lumayas ka! I don't want to hear anyone saying this. But, should I hear one, my only prayer is: It must not be from a member of a Christian Organization.

Well, at times, I also admit that “ kung di mo pa kayang lumangoy sumakay ka na lang muna kahit masikip man ang bangka ”. But, hey, tell me that knocking on clients' door in the wee hours of the night is making the LOVE AND COMPASION OF CHRIST BE FELT BY THE POOR? I never understood that a non-stock, non-profit organization is a charitable institution. But, I never think also that it must also be oppressive even if it is not gaining any profit (really!?!). Otherwise, I can't make distinction between an NGO in micro-financing and the groups of foreign nationals involved in lending business.

I already have said much on this. Now, understand or I can't stop myself writing.
