WV social workers to take oath of professionalsTwenty five new social workers from Western Visayas will take their oath of professionals on August 26, 9:00 am at the 4 th Floor, Alfonso Uy Student Union, Central Philippine University. No less than the Chairperson of the Board of Examiners for Social Work Licensure Examination of the Professional Regulation Commission , Hon. Monina C. Manapat, will administer the oath taking ceremony. She will give the Inspirational Message to new social workers, social work practitioners, educators, and students form Region VI. Also invited to grace the occasion are PRC Regional Director Lily Ann R. Baldago, who will give the words of challenge, CPU President Juanito M. Acanto and Dean Fely Chin, who will give the words of welcome. The new social workers who successfully hurdled the 2005 Board Examination are as follows: (Central Philippine University), Marjalainne Lou S.Andrada, Verna A. The oath taking program is sponsored by the Department of Social Work, CPU; Philippine Association of Social workers, Inc-Western Visayas; and the National Association for Social Work Education, Inc.-Region VI. It will be recalled that the aforementioned organizations were the prime movers in the successful celebration of the Ruby Anniversary of the Social Work Law last June. The historic event which has gained support from the Regional Development Council as well as the nationwide recognition resulted to the declaration of Social Work Week on June 13-19 in Western Visayas by virtues of resolutions/ordinances passed by respective Sangguniang Panlalawigan/Panlungsod in Region VI. Prof. Edwin I. Lariza, chairman of the Department of Social Work, CPU and concurrent president of the Regional Social Workers Association intimated that the national leadership is in the process of working for the institutionalization of the celebration in the national level. He considered such development a product of the successful advocacy of Ilonggo social workers and expressed thanks to all social workers in region VI that supported the cause. |
