Police are now on the look-out for the suspects responsible in Thursday discovery of a charred body dumped in one hinterland barangay in Concepcion, Iloilo.
With the remains beyond recognition, operatives of the Concepcion Police in northern Iloilo called on forensic experts from the Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 to assist in establishing the identity.
Initial information relayed to Bombo Radyo disclosed of a woman victim yet Senior Insp. Gilbert Archide, Concepcion Police chief told said radio station that his belief is that they have a male victim on hand.
As of presstime, The News Today gathered no leads yet sources said checks are being made and information validated on the owners of a truck and an L300 van.
Police confirmed tips from civilian informants bolstered by accounts of passing motorists that a truck coming from San Dionisio town passed through Barangay Bakhawan Norte about 9 p.m. Wednesday. Another sighting was that of a speeding L300 van about 11 p.m.
A tricycle driver chanced upon the burned remains by the roadside in a secluded area of Barangay Bakhawan Norte about 5:30 a.m. yesterday. Links are being eyed on the either of the two vehicles that could have dumped the charred body.
Closer look of the remains showed that a tire may have been used in the burning with the body believed to have been doused by gasoline.
Reports of missing persons in northern Iloilo are also being verified to help ascertain the identity of the victim.
Barangay Bakhawan Norte has since been used as ‘favorite' dumping ground for victims of various criminalities in the area.
One of the recent incident involved a carnapping victim who was left by the suspects in the area while using the barangay as escape route.
