Kabankalan City to hold Tourism WeekThe City of Kabankalan will hold Tourism Week on Sept. 19 to 24 under the auspices of the Kabankalan City Cultural and Tourism Foundation, Inc. The theme of the celebration is focused on “Local Tourism: Impetus to a Robust Domestic Economy.” Dr. Enigardo B. Legislador, Jr., chairman of KCCTF, said the celebration will involve the different public and private schools and civic clubs in the city. On Sept. 19, there will be a city tour of students and a video presentation at the new city hall. In the afternoon, a tourism quiz bowl sponsored by the Noceco Toastmasters Club will be held. A choral presentation sponsored by the Rotary Club of Kabankalan will be held on Sept. 20, together with indigenous music to be performed by selected barangays and a kundiman songfest, sponsored by Kabankalan “Bangkal” and “Molasses” Jaycees. On Sept. 21, a speechfest will be held sponsored by Noceco Toastmasters Club and a folkdance festival on Sept. 22. On Sept. 23, there will be a symposium on the current trends and thrusts in the tourism industry with Edwin Trompeta, regional director, DOT, Iloilo City as speaker. After the symposium, the director will join the Mag-aso falls day tour together with the city officials, foundation members and dept. heads. In the afternoon, the Fortress College will present a musical stage play titled “Ang Handumanan sang Kabankalan” at the city plaza. City mayor Pedro P. Zayco, Jr. said this is the first time that the city of Kabankalan observe a tourism week celebration and he invites visitors to come and see the various presentations. (Eddie M. Yap) |
