Provincial Population Quiz winners named

Roxanne Camacho of Anilao National High School emerged 1st place in 2005 Division Population Quiz held last Sept. 24, 2005 at Oton National High School.

She is followed by Cyril Tejero of Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School and Melissa Fruto of Mina National High School as 2nd and 3rd placers, respectively.
The event was participated in by 79 contestants from public and private secondary schools all over the province.

Camacho will represent the Province of Iloilo at the Regional Pop Quiz on October 7, 2005 at the Department of Education Regional Office 6.

Judges for this mind challenge were Ma. Xenia M. Serio, Information Officer, POPCOM Region VI; Renarda Gaviola, Training and Research Officer, Iloilo Provincial Population Office; and Jojo T. Sorilla, Chair, Liberal Arts Department, University of San Agustin.

The contest aims to sustain among in-school youth and general public awareness of and interest in population issues; convey population and development concepts/messages to students which are essential to making informed decision on family life and responsible parenthood, puberty, adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender and development; and promote among in-school youth values supportive of population and development education.

The contest is open to all fourth year high school students of public and private schools as well as laboratory schools of state colleges and universities. (Capitol News)
