Pa decry death of convicted son in Munti jailbreak
Four Ilonggo convicts killed in fatal ‘eskapo’
By Florence F. Hibionada
The father of an Ilonggo convict who was among the four killed in Sunday’s jailbreak is now crying “foul” on the fate of his son. Saying it was a premeditated act on the part of jail authorities, the family of Damaso Job, infamous police character who gained notoriety years back, said there was a clear plan to silence him for the convict’s move to expose jail anomalies.
As such, Jose Job of Barangay Sohoton, Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo maintains that the evidence and surrounding events leading to the death of Damaso were all “planted.” How can his son even attempt to grab a jail guard’s service firearm when he was handcuffed?, the elder Job asked.
Damaso was killed along with three other Ilonggo convicts, Edgar Macarse of Barangay Tubang, Maasin, Iloilo, Julio alias “Burikat” Deloritos Jr., of Confessor Street, Poblacion Ilaya, Zarraga, Iloilo and Rolando Paraiso.
Damaso was sentenced to life imprisonment courtesy of the 1992 jailbreak at the Iloilo Rehabilitation Center (IRC) where he was found guilty for the death of two IRC guards. He was also convicted for the kidnapping of a businessman’s daughter in Pavia, Iloilo. He was the fourth of Job siblings.
Deloritos on the other hand was known for his robbery exploits that reportedly include actress Sharon Cuneta as among his former victims.
