A day after The News Today reported the story of an abandoned motorcycle being used by a policeman formerly assigned at Molo PNP, SPO3 Rex Jabian finally returned the said motorcycle to the custody of the said police station.
Sources at Molo PNP said Jabian returned the motorcycle Thursday morning at the Molo police station. Insp. Frankie Lugo, chief of the Molo police station was not available for comment regarding the issue.
The News Today on Monday tried to reach Jabian for comment in Camp Delgado where he is now assigned but he was not available. On the day the news came on print, Jabian reportedly returned it to Molo PNP.
The motorcycle with plate number PS 9104 was turned over by Barangay Kagawads Augusto Drilon and Lourdene Lim to Molo PNP last July 25, 2005. They found the motorcycle abandoned in Zone 3B, Calumpang for unknown reasons.
The motorcycle, a Yamaha Krypton 110 CC was then kept in the custody of the Molo police station. However, the vehicle went to the possession of Jabian. Jabian is now assigned at the Regional Headquarters Service Group in Camp Delgado.
Earlier, Senior Supt. Isagani Cuevas, PNP-6 director for operations said cops are not allowed to use any returned, abandoned or any evidence or fruits of crime. Cops could be charged administratively for committing such act. Policemen liable of such offense could be dismissed from the police service.
Cuevas said the chief of police or the city director could conduct the investigation and file appropriate charges against the responsible officer.
