DENR conducts ENR statistical quiz contest
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) capped the celebration of the 16th National Statistics Month with an Environmental and Natural Resources (ENR) Quiz Contest held at its regional office recently. Participants were employees from the different sectors of the department including its field offices. Vilma Limates from the Protected Areas Wildlife and Coastal Zone Management Services (PAWZCMS) topped the competition. Runners-up were Julie Alejandro from the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), Guimaras and Rene Reyes from PENRO, Aklan.
The ENR Statistics Quiz Contest is an annual activity that the Planning and Management Division (PMD) of the DENR headed by Miss Edna B. Locsin, Chief PMD is conducting to gauge the knowledge of participating employees on the updated environmental statistics of the office. This year it included some information about fisheries and agriculture as part of the theme.
This year’s theme 'Modernizing Agriculture and Fishery Through Quality Statistics' was showcased in an in-house exhibit with statistics of major programs and projects of all Sectors and Bureaus of the agency held at the DENR compound from October 10-31, 2005. DENR also participated in the exhibit held at Gaizano City.
Regional Executive Director Celso V. Loriega, Jr. gave an inspirational message to the contestants. He informed that the DENR participated in other activities in coordination with the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB), the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA), other Non Government Agencies, State Universities and Colleges and Local Government Units. The DENR continues to undertake programs and activities that heightens public awareness and enjoins different sectors of society to support its endeavor.
