Proposed TF Esperanza temporarily shelved
The proposal to put up a police task force in Brgy. Tanza Esperanza to avert illegal drug trade was temporarily postponed. The reason? The cops who are supposed to compose the task force were sent to Bacolod City to augment security for the forthcoming Southeast Asian Games.
Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas said, the cops would be back after the SEA Games in which they would already be detailed to Brgy. Tanza Esperanza.
Tanza Esperanza is one of the city barangays considered as seriously affected by illegal drugs.
The mayor said the city government would push through with the task force even if some people do not want police presence in the area.
Treñas said the creation of the task force in Brgy. Bakhaw, Mandurriao had positive results that is why he would like also to apply it in Brgy. Tanza Esperanza.
Treñas cited the full cooperation of the community to Task Force Bakhaw which led to the series of arrests of suspected illegal drug pushers in the area.
