Company commanders: The Army's 'Cutting-Edge Warriors'
Crucero
Jamindan, Capiz - The 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division conducted a three-day Company Commanders Seminar and Workshop last October 19-21, 2005 at Camp Peralta, Jamindan, Capiz to fine-tune operational details, evaluate their unit performance, update them of the enemy's tactics, set target goals and provide them with additional knowledge that is essential in the accomplishment of their mission.
The Company Commanders are the 'Cutting-Edge Warriors' that are fighting wars not in air-conditioned rooms nor by sitting in a swivel chair, but by staying in foxholes or embedded for weeks in the jungles, under weather extremes, tracking and hunting the enemies of our country and people-the New People's Army. They are always at the forefront of every tactical endeavor, ready and willing to lay their lives in the line of fire. They possess the warrior spirit, exceptional leadership qualities and courage to face danger and lead soldiers in front, making them the cutting-edge of the Army in internal security operations.
In his message, Maj Gen Alphonsus P. Crucero, 3ID Commanding General emphasized, that the Company Commanders should maintain the integrity of their unit, empower the NCOs as Squad Leaders, train and fight as a Squad, lookout for the welfare of their men and finally, focus on the unit mission. Amidst rumors of destabilization in the military ranks, Crucero reminded the Company Commanders to adhere to the chain-of-command, remain apolitical and always remember their sworn oath of loyalty to the duly constituted republic.
The Company Commanders, mostly young Lieutenants and Captains from the Infantry, Engineer and Armor units in Bohol, Cebu, Negros and Panay, also serve as community-development facilitators in the delivery of basic government services to the people, especially those living in the countryside.
