Politics behind the P100-M loan TRO
If they believe that their cause is pro-people and pro-progress, members of the minority block in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) should have sought the legal opinion of well-meaning legal luminaries and opened the avenue for a healthy discussion on the P100-million loan of the Provincial Capitol with the Land Bank of the Philippines.
But because politics has once again reared its ugly head, they opted to seek for a temporary restraining order (TRO) from a court perceived to be biased against Gov. Niel D. Tupas. throwing away the possibility of a win-win solution to the impasse.
The loan was intended for the purchase of some heavy equipment in the provincial engineer's office and seeking a TRO against it is tantamount to sabotaging the project.
Anyway, I will not dwell on the merits and demerits of the case since it is already in the Court.
I am just saddened that until now, some politicians in the SP are still trapped in the quagmire of destructive politics. They are like the cry baby national opposition politicians who always resort to hue and cry each time Pres. Arroyo undertakes a national program.
If we have public servants with this kind of weird mentality, the progress of our province will altogether be derailed like a passenger fast craft traveling Bacolod-Iloilo vice versa which has not recovered from a long 'slumber'.

My trip to Manila this week will determine how I will handle and internalize some of the mind-boggling national issues that have been cluttering my analytical mind these past months.
By 'invading' the Imperial Manila, so to speak, I can more or less discern the political climate in the national level thus giving me more room to contemplate on the stand that I have made concerning national issues that have directly and indirectly influenced our way of thinking and living in this part of the country.
My personal political bias in favor of the administration is based on logic and intuition. Although I also advocate change in some aspects of governance, I certainly disagree with the method being employed by the enemies of Pres. Arroyo.
They are actually playing the Russian Roulette when they agitated for the resignation of the President because at stake here is our national survival above and over the whims and caprices of some opposition leaders.

It is always thrilling to watch showbiz personalities clash like cockfighters on TV. But it is more entertaining to hear some actors and actresses figure in verbal encounters like what happened recently to Rudy Fernandez and a talent manager who claimed Daboy mauled him black and blue during a chance meeting
The episode evoked past incidents and memories when this humble columnist was still active with the showbiz in the 70s as technical staff.
Due to some human frailties and imperfections, I also experienced having encountered some obtrusive and arrogant actors at the set while making a film. And I am proud to mention that I have never let the arrogance of some actors and actresses pass without giving them a dose of their own medicine. Due to lack of space, I cannot discuss in details my experience in the showbiz that somehow helped make me grow both as a laborer and as a human being.
