Rowdy cop arrested in Antique
HAMTIC, ANTIQUE - A policeman was arrested by fellow policemen in Hamtic, Antique following a call for help made by locals on someone who they said was 'armed and dangerous.'
Responding operatives of Hamtic Police Station immediately secured the area as they saw the apparently drunk officer, shouting invectives at just about anybody, the police included while showing off his service firearm.
The rowdy cop was identified as PO3 Jerry Gomez who allegedly introduced himself as an agent of the Philippine Coast Guard. When efforts to appease him failed, the cops decided to put the cuffs on him and put him under arrest.
It was not immediately clear if administrative charges will be pursued against PO3 Gomez for his unruly and 'conduct unbecoming of an officer' behavior.
Meantime, yet another police figure, this time an ex-police intern was subject of a complaint of a 34 year-old man also from Hamtic, Antique.
The complainant, Edwin Toledo was rushed for emergency treatment in local hospital when allegedly attacked by three men during a basketball game. Pals went to Toledo's rescue upon seeing him on the ground with a head injury caused by a blunt object.
Toledo told authorities his assailants were three of the basketball players from the opposing team. He identified one of those as a former police intern, a certain 'Cabanal' who purportedly has buddies in the Hamtic Police Office.
No charges nor suspects were named as of yet on the Toledo case. Double whammy for him after loosing the basketball game that triggered it all.
