Concepcion cops face ax for police brutality
Concepcion, Iloilo -- At least three operatives of the Concepcion Police Office face possible relief from their respective posts following charges of police brutality pursued by the government's Commission on Human Rights (CHR).
The incident stemmed from the earlier complaint lodged by Jay-R Perez who told authorities of the fate suffered by his brother John Mark in the hands of the three accused police officers.
In a report, The News Today (TNT) got the confirmation that the three beleaguered cops were PO3 Gilbert Piedad, PO3 Mariano Aragon and PO2 Amado Octaviano. The trio faces both criminal and administrative charges with sanction almost immediately up as assured by Senior Supt. Efren Quintos, Iloilo Provincial Police Office (IPPO) Director.
The 33 year-old victim sustained fractured ribs and was reported to have been heavily manhandled by the trio officers in an interrogation inside the Concepcion Police Office headquarters.
'Anytime soon,' an IPPO insider told TNT of the relief order forthcoming on the accused policemen while adding that alongside the three named thus far, more heads will roll as a major revamp is expected thereafter.
And outright dismissal awaits too, the police officer who purposely deleted and tampered with the police blotter records that reflected the complaint of the victim for police brutality.
In a radio interview, Senior Supt. Quintos said he will not tolerate such police abuses as he assured that no whitewash will occur in the Perez case and vow to push for immediate dismissal from police service those responsible in the beatings.
This latest police brutality brings to yet another high the records before the CHR where latest statistics showed cops top the list of abusers when it comes to human rights.
