CIDG files murder, parricide cases vs. Tan siblings
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) 6 has filed two counts of murder and parricide charges against Archie and John Michael Tan at the Iloilo City Prosecution Office Friday morning.
Archie and John Michael, sons of murder victim Francisco "Bobby" Tan by his first wife, were tagged by the authorities as perpetrators in the grisly killing of Tan, his second wife Cynthia Marie Zayco and six-year old daughter Catherine.
Supt. Renato Gumban, CIDG 6 chief, said scientific and circumstantial evidences they have gathered pointed to the duo as the culprits in the crime.
Gumban said the motive of the killings could be related to family problems.
Earlier, Conchita Tan, aunt of Archie and John Michael, absolved the two of the crime and alluded to their former security guard as the perpetrator.
J. Vini Gulmatico, the security guard allegedly alluded to by Conchita as the suspect, denied the allegations saying he was in his house in Leganes, Iloilo when the crime happened.
Police investigations also did not find anything that would link Gulmatico in the gruesome murder.
Archie and John Michael were reported to have come out of the Tan mansion on midnight of Sunday for a night out by scaling through the back wall.
Ramil Loveriza, security guard on duty at the mansion that time, alleged that the two came back passing through the same back wall around 3 a.m. eventually discovering the dead bodies of their father Bobby, step-mother Cynthia Marie and step-sister Catherine.
Gumban said they had probable cause to charge the two brothers of the crime.
Meanwhile, Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) director Senior Supt. Norlito Bautista said they don't consider the Tan massacre case closed despite the filing of cases against the two Tan siblings.
Bautista said they would continue to dig deeper on the case to find out if other individuals from the Tan household participated in the execution of the crime.
The remains of Bobby, Cynthia Marie and Catherine are presently laid in their mansion in M.H. Del Pilar Street, Molo. Interment will be on Wednesday, January 18, 2006.
