Tan family lawyer scores 'abusive' CIDG
Gumban
Iloilo -- Lawyer Leonardo Jiz of the Tan family scored the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG 6) headed by Senior Supt. Renato Gumban for allegedly going out of bounds in Thursday's incident inside the Tan mansion involving the two families-Tans and Zaycos.
CIDG personnel helped the Zaycos get out of the mansion around 2 p.m. taking away with them the remaining five children of slain businessman Francisco "Bobby" Tan and Cynthia Marie Zayco-Tan.
Mary Grace Tan reported at Molo police station that the children namely Raffy (17), Christine (15), Katrina (14), Karen (11) and one year-old Kathleen were forcibly taken out of the house by Michael Zayco, brother of Cynthia, with the help of several CIDG personnel.
Tan further alleged that Michael punched Conchita Tan, matriarch of the Tan family, on the chest and shoulder.
Jiz said they are planning to file kidnapping and trespassing cases against Gumban and his men.
He said the CIDG men abused their power when they forcibly entered the mansion fully armed.
Gumban earlier told the media that they only assisted the Zaycos as they were allegedly barred from going out of the mansion by the Tans.
Gumban said the Zaycos wanted to bring the children to Bacolod for a vacation after the burial of Francisco, his wife Cynthia Marie and six-year old daughter Catherine but Conchita disagreed.
Gumban said after taking the children out of the mansion they were brought to the CIDG office in Camp Delgado where they were met by two personnel from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
He said the children were asked if they really want to go with their uncle Michael and grandmother Rosalinda and they answered in the affirmative.
The Zaycos left taking with them the five children around 4:15 p.m. on board a fast craft to Bacolod City.
Upon arrival in Bacolod City it was learned that they were met by their close relatives then brought to an exclusive subdivision.
Since then the Zayco family did not issue official statement to the media.
Jiz said the Tan family will also haul to court the Zaycos in order to get back custody of the children.
The lawyer said the Tan family does not want exclusive custody of the five children, only that they want the children to recover from trauma first since their parents and sister have just been buried.
To note, the CIDG tagged Francisco's sons by his first wife, Archie (23) and Jan Michael (18), as the suspects in the grisly killings.
Archie and Jan Michael are under the custody of their aunt Conchita.
