Greetings of cheers and "beso-beso" exchanged among the members of class '81 of Assumption Iloilo. Of 60 who graduated 25 years ago, 21 came home for the "Old Girls Day". Of 60, 28 are US and Canada based, 4 are in Manila and the rest spread in the beautiful isalnd of Panay. It was a fun-packed weekend planned and coordinated by Marinela de la Cruz-Maglutac. The Silver Jubilarians were also joined by class advisers Sr. Josefa Derayunan, R.A. (who is fondly called Mo. Jo because of the hit soap opera Flor de Luna - '80s people remember??) and Mrs. Delia Amistoso.

Restaurant after the velada)
Some members of the class presented a Mazurka during the velada. A dance they practiced and perfected for weeks, while the daring and brave souls nudged by the Glee Club president Liza Arnaldo- Ocampo sang impromptu with a live band!
During the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, at offertory, then Student Council president Gemma Sison-Hernandez offered a jigsaw puzzle as a class symbol. Why a jigsaw puzzle? Well it is made of different shapes and sizes. Before the picture is created, the spaces must be filled in and only one size and shape for a space. Batch '81 joins in the journey to the Assumption centennial in 2010 and hope to finish the picture.
At Tam Nak Thai: With old boy Melvin
Sarabia and special guest,
Vice Gov. Obet Armada
The homecoming was capped with a meeting with Mo. Jo who kept reminding the GIRLS to be wise virgins and not to be foolish virgins! Also to remember the class motto: MAGNIFICAT (my soul magnifies the Lord). Batch '81 funds were donated to sponsor young ladies ages 18-23 who are interested in joining the Assumption vocation.
