The occupational physician: Responding to challenges in today's crises
The 28th Annual National Convention on March 27-29, 2006 at the Manila Hotel will focus on the Occupational Physician in the midst of challenging and difficult times.
The profile of occupational health in the Philippines, to include the opportunities available to OH physicians in the fields of human resource development, research , and career, will be discussed in the first plenary session. The emerging occupational health concerns such as stress and violence, substance abuse, compressed workweek, and avian flu will be taken in another plenary session. The succeeding plenary sessions will tackle renovascular hypertension as well as updates in OSH regulations, cost effective OHS programs, and risks assessment programs among others. Moreover, prevention and innovation in occupational health specifically about available information resources, OSH-management systems, sickness absence program, weight management, and triaging in disaster will be presented by the experts in various industrial settings.
The conferment ceremonies of Diplomates and Fellows of PCOM will cap the 3day confab.
Business meeting, with the ratification of proposed amendments to the PCOM constitution and by-laws, as well as elections of officers, is set at 2 o'clock in the afternoon of March 28, 2006.
The fellowship and fun will be promoted thru sports activities like fun walk and badminton on March 27,2006 at 8-12 noon and dinner-dance-raffle affair on the evening of March 28, 2006. The first 50 registrants to the Fun Walk will be given T-shirts and breakfast . The mixed doubles badminton tournament will allow 4 players +1 alternate from each chapter to compete. All players are reminded to bring their own racket.
All interested members are enjoined to register with the PCOM secretariat as the registration is on a first come-first served basis.
To enliven the Fellowship Night, chapters are invited to present one musical presentation each. Prizes and gifts will be given to the best performance.
