Personal grudge seen as motive in cop's slay try
Iloilo City -- A policeman who survived a slay attempt in front of his house in Barangay Compania, Molo early morning Friday believes that persons who have personal grudges with him were responsible for the attempt to kill him.
Senior Inspector Federico Silvestre, chief of Molo police precinct, however said SPO4 Rodendache Ganzon declined to name the suspects who shot him.
Ganzon, who is also a former member of the Molo police precinct, suffered gunshot wounds in his leg and chest. He is recuperating at the Iloilo Doctors Hospital. His injuries were not fatal.
He was about to leave their house around 4 a.m. Thursday to report in Camp Delgado when two motorcycle-riding suspects wearing bonnet and black jackets shot him.
Ganzon was able to crawl inside their house and exchanged fire with the suspects using his service firearm. The suspect immediately fled after the shooting passing through Compania Fundidor. Police recovered ten empty shells of .45 caliber pistol in the crime scene.
As of press time, Silvestre discounts the participation of Rogelio Capangyarihan in the shooting incident. Initially, Capangyarihan was alluded as one of the suspects in the shooting. However, investigators found out that Capangyarihan has no capacity to do it.
Capangyarihan was arrested by Ganzon sometime in October 2005 for alarm and scandal. His name cropped up as one of the possible suspects because of said incident.
Silvestre added that based on their investigation Capangyarihan was sleeping inside their house at the time of the incident.
Silvestre said Capangyarihan expressed his willingness to cooperate with the investigators. He even asked for police protection as something might happen to him because of the incident.
