Pangilinan lauds Treñas
Senator Francis Pangilinan recently congratulated Mayor Jerry P. Treñas for the recognition that the city got from the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) Policy Center in having the most competitive and most viable business atmosphere in the Philippines.
The AIM survey showed five metropolitan, five mid-sized and ten small cities as having business environments viewed as favorable by investors under the Philippine Cities Competitiveness Ranking Project 2005.
Iloilo City was one of five cities identified under the mid-sized cities category with more than 200,000 residents, along with Bacolod, Batangas, Iligan, and San Fernando, Pampanga.
In his letter, Pangilinan said that Treñas is "one of the innovative public servants that our countrymen are lucky to have."
The senator further added that Treñas's abilities as "a dedicated, inspired and creative economic and development manager" will certainly drive Iloilo City to greater heights and help the people overcome the many obstacles that they may face.
"I commend you for your public service and vision. The dreams of the people in your city will be realized under your leadership," Pangilinan wrote.
Treñas, who was thankful for Pangilinan's commendation, said that the senator's praise was apparently brought about by the recent achievements of the city. The mayor said that the senator's letter should serve as a motivation and inspiration for all Ilonggos, particularly the city's productive citizens and the business community, to continue doing well and working together for the sustained development of Iloilo City.
