UGSAD leads women's month celebration
The UGSAD Regional Gender Resource Center in Western Visayas based at the University of the Philippines-Visayas, Iloilo campus is at the helm of activities in celebrating Women's Month.
The highlight of the activities is on March 8 which is International Women's Day, wherein UGSAD will facilitate a Lecture-forum with Atty. Katrina Legarda as keynote speaker, at the UPV-Iloilo Auditorium.
Atty. Legarda will talk on women's issues focusing on this year's theme which is "CEDAW ng Bayan, Karapatan ng Kababaihan. CEDAW is the acronym for Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women.
The lecture-forum is expected to gather Gender focal persons in government agencies, local government units, the academe and other sectors.
UGSAD Coordinator Prof. Florenda Española said that she is also expecting all other women's rights advocates to participate in other activities lined up during the month, which include a Public Forum on "Overcoming Historical Trauma", and on Women Art and Japanese Self-Defense Forces," on March 10; Tiyangge Sang Mga Babaye, whole day of March 8; Women Historical figures Gallery and exhibits at the UPV auditorium from March 8-10 and a Lakbay Aral for UGSAD members to the Negros State College of Agriculture and Siliman University, from March 30-31.
Meanwhile, Atty. Legarda will have a press conference at 1:30 p.m., March 8, at the conference room of the Iloilo Provincial Capitol.
