CTO chief off for seminar in Japan
City Treasurer Katherine Tingson will be off for a week long seminar workshop in Tokyo, Japan on local government resource management. The workshop will start on March 13-17, 2006.
Tingson said the seminar is not a "pleasure trip" but a working seminar. They have certain topics to deal with during the course of the seminar. The trip is all-expense paid by the Asian Development Bank.
Tingson was nominated by Mayor Jerry Treñas in his capacity as the president of the League of Cities of the Philippines. The workshop is upon the invitation of Mr. Jeoung-Keun Lee, of the Capacity and Building and Training of the ADB.
The participants were first made to submit their reports to the ADB with focus on the country's public fiscal management prior to their admission to the workshop.
In Iloilo City, Tingson was the only participant who got a slot for the local government resource management.
The treasurer said she will gain more ideas on fiscal management in her trip. She is mandated to make an action plan during the training on her report which prompted the ADB to qualify her in the seminar.
Her trip to Japan was also approved by the Undersecretary for Local Government Wencelito Andanar. Tingson is also required to make a report together with her recommendations to the chief executive, city and regional director of the Department of Interior and Local Government and also with the director of the Bureau of Local Government Supervision.
