Capitol expense nears P1B mark
Iloilo -- Three months into this year's approved expenditures of over P856 million for the affairs and operation of the Iloilo Provincial Government, the Iloilo Sanggunian Panlalawigan (SP) moved yesterday (Tuesday) to approve P65 million more.
As such, the Capitol expense as of March this year nears the P1 billion mark with latest appropriations as sought putting in over P2.4 million in additional funds for the "General Services" under the office of the Governor. There were also be P.5 million in "Advertising Expense", same amount alloted for the purchase of anti-Rabies vaccine.
The first for this year's Supplemental Budgets, the approval will also see P1,000 increase in additional compensation allowance for Capitol employees with over P26 million appropriated for said expense. Further still, P20 million in additional fund will go the "Construction in Progress" at the new Iloilo Rehabilitation Center (IRC), P10 million from the Capital Outlay and another P10 million from the Social Development or 20% IRA for Development Project. There will also be P1.9 million in equipment outlay for the Governor's Office.
Roads and bridges throughout the province should also see some development within the P3.5 million budget and another P3 million for Iloilo barangays geared towards "Social Development Assistance Projects."
Contained in Committee Report No. 18, Fifth District Board Member Niel Tupas Jr. found merit on the request of his father, Governor Niel Tupas Sr. while stating that all objects of expenditures as identified are "considered reasonable."
Other expenditures as stated include P1.4 million for the IRC, a basketball court for the Iloilo Sports Complex valued P740,000 and P30,000 worth of furnitures and fixtures for Provincial Administrator Manuel "Boy" Mejorada.
