Tamasak Festival
A fun-filled event in Barotac Nuevo
May 6, 2006 marks the birth of the Tamasak Festival at Casa Fiammetta in Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo. The name Tamasak was derived from the legendary horse hero of Barotacnons. This summer festival which hopes to become a yearly event is a brainchild of Casa Fiammetta's Mr. Nonel Gemora.
On its first year, Tamasak Festival has drawn spectators from the city and the nearby municipalities. Internationally-acclaimed aeromodelers from Iloilo, led by Iloilo Chapter President Michael Yan and former Vice Mayor Victor Facultad, and from Bacolod, headed by their president Patchit Dulay and Emilio Infante, gathered as they entice the audience with their prized remote-controlled airplane and helicopters.
Bikers from all mountain bikers federations participated the fun ride traversing the roads all over Barotac Nuevo with Casa Fiammetta as their starting and finish point.
Body builders flaunt their toned muscles in the much-awaited Mr. & Ms. Figure Fitness competition held at the Casa Fiammetta on the same day.
Of course, the fun-filled festival was not complete without the signature sports of the Barotacnons—football. Enthusiasts rushed to the Football Training Center grounds to witness the Age Group Football Festival. It was participated by teams from schools all over the country including South Ridge, Westbridge, schools from Cebu, and various football clubs in Iloilo.
The one day affair ended with a sumptuous food fest and a splendid performance from the Souled Out Band at Casa Fiammetta.
The First Tamasak Festival was made successful with the help of the local government unit of Barotac Nuevo, Nick Salcedo who spearheaded the fitness pageant, the bikers headed by Arthur Barrido, Dufie Botavara who organized the football games, the aeromodelers headed by Michael Yan and Victor Facultad and Pepsi Cola.
