NFA VI now ready to use coco bio-diesel
The National Food Authority (NFA) Region VI is now preparing its agency guideline for the efficient use of the Coconut Methyl Ester (CME) as a blend in a diesel fuel for all their vehicles in the region.
NFA VI Director Javier Lozada said during the PIA interview that the move to use one percent CME as a blend in petroleum diesel fuel is in support to the government's energy conservation measure.
"We received memorandum from NFA-Central Office last week regarding the CME use and I instructed our administrative officer to look for the source of said fuel blend here," Lozada said.
The NFA VI Director said that CMEs are sold in a one liter plastic container and "that's the reason why we still have to make a guideline as a control measure in the issuance of the CMEs to our drivers".
All NFA regional and provincial managers have been directed to implement Section 1 of Memorandum Circular No. 55 on the use of CME. Memorandum Circular No. 55 issued by the Department of Energy is directed to all departments, bureaus and instrumentalities of the government, including government-owned and controlled corporations.
Director Lozada clarified that "with or without energy crisis, we were already practicing energy conservation. There are many ways to implement the energy conservation measures without sacrificing the efficiency of the office".
The use of CME blended bio-fuels for NFA vehicles will boost the energy conservation measures the agency has been implementing on fuel consumption, Director Lozada concluded.
