'Brigada Eskwela' reports success in Capiz
Roxas City -- The parents, students and teachers cooperation and support made the brigada eskwela a success in Capiz.
According to Dr. Lagrimas Ubal, Schools Division Superintendent in Capiz said that both in the elementary and high school, a concerted effort was made possible to prepare for the school opening in June.
Ubal explained that through the brigada eskwela, which started in May 15 to 22 this year, community members were able to set and re-structure the classrooms.
She added that teachers have already prepared their class devises while students have helped in the preparation of classroom materials like books.
Brigada Eskwela program, otherwise known as the National Schools Maintenance Week, emphasizes the bayanihan spirit among school communities.
Said activity is lead by the Department of Education which is designed to encourage parents, students, teachers and local communities to volunteer their time and effort to perform minor necessary repair and maintenance work on the schools.
For school year 2006-2007, classes in the public school will begin on June 5 with not less than 200 school days, Ubal said.
