Former PRO-6 official eyed as next PRO 6 director
Northern Police District Director Leopoldo Bataoil who formerly served as Deputy Regional Director for Operations of Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 is reportedly one of the four chief superintendents vying to replace outgoing PRO 6 regional director Chief Supt. Doroteo Reyes II who is set to retire next month.
Bataoil has also served as provincial director of Negros Occidental. Prior to his assumption as director of the Northern Police District in Manila, he was the PNP spokesperson.
Another name who is reportedly included in the list of four wannabes is Chief Supt. Edgardo Doromal, who is also the former police provincial director of Antique. Doromal is now with the Public Safety Police Office in Camp Crame.
Reyes confirmed that Bataoil and Doromal are among those officials considered to replace him. He did not name the two other nominees for the position but said they are all qualified to be the next PRO 6 regional director.
Reyes also refused to entertain the idea that the post was already assured to Bataoil because of the latter's presence along with other PNP top officials. He said it might only be a coincidence and Bataoil was assigned in Western Visayas for a long time.
Bataoil was here Tuesday with outgoing PNP Director Arturo Lomibao Jr. and PNP Director for Logistics Noe Wong. The top officials of the PNP were in town for an inspection and groundbreaking ceremonies for the construction new police station in Mina, Tubungan and construction of a building at the Iloilo Police Provincial Office in Sta. Barbara. They also wanted how the region fared with other regional police offices in terms of peace and order.
At the same time, Lomibao bid farewell to all the officers and personnel of the national police. He is set to retire on July 5, 2006, weeks before Reyes will also retire from the police service.
In his arrival message, Lomibao thank the members of the police force for the cooperation and support they have extended to him during his term of office. "Me and my family extend our heartfelt gratitude."
The outgoing PNP director also urged his men to extend and give the same cooperation and support they have extended to him during his tenure as PNP director.
