Mayor Flores inducts Oton Reflexologists Association (ORA) officers
Mayor Carina Veloso Flores inducted last Saturday, June 17, 2006, at the Oton covered gym the new set of officers of the Oton Reflexologists Association (ORA) composed of housewives and male volunteers from neighboring barangays.
The induction coincided with the third Foundation Anniversary of the said association which was organized in 2003 after undergoing a week-long rigid reflexology training courtesy of the Municipality of Oton through the initiative of then senatorial candidate Jamby Madrigal.
Madrigal in her eagerness to improve the lives of the poorest among the poor has come up with a noble idea to hire the services of professional reflexologists to train volunteers for free. Such endeavor has attracted a lot of interested applicants which eventually resulted to self-employment from our less privileged citizens from various parts of the country.
From a modest beginning ORA members have found economic benefits out of their services mostly through home services or by appointment.
Meanwhile, Flores has indicated her desire for the association to prosper hence made a pledge during the induction to put up their own area within the vicinity of the municipal building where active members can accommodate walk-in clients for services.
According to a research, reflexology is a form of therapeutic body massage practiced since ancient time to regain lost body vitality. For less than an hour or a little more sessions one can feel the experience of instant physical relief for a reasonable price.
Other than its therapeutic benefits, reflexology can rid of emotional stress as well.
In the same event, Flores gave her inspirational message, encouraging members of ORA to be diligent in the practice of their chosen vocation as it also gives them economic benefits for their family.
ORA president Lucrecia C. Mananap, in behalf of the association extended her gratitude to Mayor Carina V. Flores in her welcome address; vowed further to professionalize their ranks.
A housewife identified as Neneta Almeda made a testimony during the said affair how reflexology had helped her a lot in terms of financial reward, which somehow her family benefited as well.
Vice Mayor Vicente B. Flores, Jr. also gave another inspiring message. Other SB members present in the occasion were Honorable Jafet Salinas, Greg Calvo and Pablo Guevarra.
The following newly inducted 2006-07 ORA officers were Lucrecia Mananap, President; Daniel Elizarde, Vice-president; Dolly Niaga, Secretary; Celina Magapa, Asst. Secretary; Virgie Panique, Treasurer; Cynia Alimpungat, Asst. Treasurer; Elenela Diocson, Auditor; Erlinda Notada, Asst. Auditor; Leonarda Silla, P.R.O.; Gloria Ganancial, Asst.
