Boracay Resto owner murdered
A restaurant owner was stabbed dead in her room in Boracay Island in Aklan Tuesday morning.
The Boracay Special Protection Unit said that Araceli Hug was found dead at about 10:20 am Tuesday inside her room in Bamboo Bar and Restaurant in station three, Sitio Manggayad, Barangay Manok-manok in the island.
Police Officer 1 Christopher Mendoza told The News Today that Eulalia Mangalay, who works in the restaurant as waitress, discovered Hug's body inside the latter's room, which bore signs of struggle.
Scene of the Crime Investigation operatives are still conducting further investigations on the crime scene, and are getting statements from the restaurant's staff, said Mendoza.
Initial investigation showed that Mendoza may have been stabbed dead with an ice pick. It was not known whether or not the murder weapon has been found.
However, a local radio station reported that police investigators have come upon a bloodstained butcher's knife believed to have been used in slaying Hug. It is the same knife the kitchen staff earlier thought was lost.
Crime investigators are now focusing their probe on the restaurant's cook and another male staff.
Mendoza said however that they have no suspects yet and have not come up with a possible motive for the crime.
It was reported though that cash amounting to P25,000 and in the possession of the victim is missing but this could not be confirmed from Mendoza.
