We've made dads walk down the ramp. We've made them join a marathon game show. Heck, we've even made them into a metrosexual through our make-over series! This year we've gone away with all of that and surprised daddy with something more familiar. They say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. What better way to apply that maxim and bring the whole family into celebrating his special day, Father's Day, than by having a cooking contest! Yes, a fun, fun, FUN, DAD'S MY KING Father and Child cooking contest together with Petron Gasul, Balbis, King's Oil, Pepsi and Picture City.
Brgy. Capt. Gilbert Garcia with wife City
Councilor Merci Garcia
The cooking contest started with a cooking demo by Chef Ador Apuan of Balbis restaurant. Having studied culinary techniques in New York, he shared some of his techniques and recipes.

steamed Lapu - lapu
The main event began with the cook off of the fathers. Leopoldo Zaldarriaga came up with a rich and sumptuous paella. Exuding the taste and tradition of Spain, it was a runaway hit with the crowd. Pacqui Caram invented a steamed Lapu-lapu with a gourmet sauce that is delectable. Sol Fernandez stir fried a harmonious melange of ground beef, eggplant, zucchini with a dash of herb and spices. Barangay Captain Gilbert Garcia on the other hand prepared a delicious liver and pork stew with tomato sauce and potatoes. The sure winner was Sim Griño who created an original Kings Festival dish, a dish composed of several mini-dishes reminiscent of a lauriat. Of course, all the fathers used Kings Oil in their dishes, the oil that is king in the kitchen!
