SP defers approval of P33M supplemental budget
The Sangguniang Panlungsod has deferred the approval of the proposed General Fund Supplemental Budget No. 2 amounting to P33,359,236.02 submitted by Mayor Jerry Treñas after several items included in the proposed budget were not clearly justified by the proponent.
In last week's regular session of the City Council, all the councilors including Majority Floor Leader Eduardo Peñaredondo agreed to hold the approval of the proposed supplemental budget since there are items in the proposed budget that remain blurred to the councilors.
Though the budget has yet to be approved, the council has agreed in principle to delete the proposed payment of overtime and night pay of City Engineer's Office (CEO) amounting to P27,967.00. The non-inclusion of the payment for the CEO was personally endorsed by Councilor Ramon Cua-Locsin.
Other items being questioned in the proposed budget are the payment of overtime and night pay of Mr. Noel Espinas, City Engineer's Office (Inspection and supervision in relation to the Metro Iloilo Water Supply System) which amounted to P28,033.50; trainings and seminar P250,000, P2,000,000. Capital outlay for the city mayor's office; traveling expenses of P350,000 for the office of the City Treasurer's Office.
The purchase of shredder machine for the CENRO amounting to P185,000 and the P1,110,000.00 city's share to Early Childhood Care and Development Project (ECCD); the proposed budget for the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) amounted to P102,000 and again the city's contribution to the Iloilo Producers Association (IPA) which is P100,000.
The deliberation of the proposed P33 million budget will continue next week after Treñas has already provided the council with more insights and explanation where the proposed P33 million budget will go.
