P20-M school building in Kabankalan inaugurated
Negros Occidental -- In response to the issue on classroom shortage, another school building rose in the city of Kabankalan to provide the students with more classrooms for better and conducive learning.
A P20 million school building was inaugurated recently by Governor Joseph Marañon in the presence of other local officials of Kabankalan led by City Mayor Pedro Zayco and Department of Education Assistant Regional Director of Region VI Dr. Elnora Barrios and other DepEd officials.
The two-storey, 24 -classroom Marañon-Zayco building named after the governor and the city mayor is a joint project of the Provincial government and the City of Kabankalan allocating P10 million each to make the project possible.
Governor Joseph Marañon in his message was elated on the realization of the building, which for him will provide for a comfortable and conducive area for learning. Marañon also proposed to rename the Kabankalan District Hospital to Lorenzo Zayco Memorial Hospital and the release of P5 million for the construction of another training center of Technical Education and Skills and Development Authority in the city.
With the construction of the new school building, Mayor Pedro Zayco expressed his gratitude claiming this would make the city the center of learning in southern Negros having the most number of schools in the 6th District of the province.
