Town mayor orders probe, arrest of fake doc
A man claiming to be gifted with magical and mysterious healing powers courtesy of a dream five years ago is now subject of frenzy in the quiet town of Belison, Province of Antique.
Not only has this 28 year-old 'resident' of Barangay Burok-burok caused the town mayor to order for a probe and kept town police busy with surprise visits to said village, but he has also generated the visit of scores of the sick and the dying.
"Doctor" June Danjiros has become an overnight sensation with the news of his reported miraculous healing and quick painless surgery reaching Iloilo City.
In a report, The News Today (TNT) gathered that validation is underway to confirm successful "operations" made in the past weeks with one supposed patient a woman Judge based in Makati City. The move was made following intervention of local officials in the purported activities of this modern-day "healer."
Mayor Christopher Piccio was quick to warn locals and prospective patients though saying he had the matter investigated with a standing order that once "Dr. Danjiros" actually lay his hands on a patient using any surgical equipment, he will immediately be arrested.
A local news correspondent of Bombo Radyo, Paul Petinglay said he was present in one of said surgery and had everything in video. He is expected to turn-over said documentation to Mayor Piccio after a request was made so the town will have evidence of Danjiros' illegal activities.
Mayor Piccio in warning the community further said danger is imminent and certain and he cannot allow such to happen. Foremost of what the mayor wants the people to understand is that while faith healing up to a point may be acceptable yet when one uses a blade or scalpel or anything as tool for the supposed miracle cure and quick surgery, then that is altogether a different matter and a crime in itself.
For starters, "Dr. Danjiros" is an unlicensed medical practitioner, Piccio pointed out. One issue that the "doc" has since dismissed saying in his five years of "tenure" in Belison, he has not received a single complaint nor report of complications. Danjiros is a native of Barangay San Vicente, Sablayan, Oriental Mindoro.
The "miracle doctor" claimed or stories passed on at least stated of his supposed miraculous exploits including instant cure on nagging arthritis, a cyst and even cancer.
He does not charge his patients, he clarified to local reporters however accepts "donations" with one happy patient reportedly paying him off P10,000 for a few minutes of "surgery"due to a lingering heart ailment. And he gladly accepts patients of up to 30 at day with said number his average on his daily medical services.
Latest reports said national media has picked up the story in Belison and have initiated contact with the mayor.
"We have not confirmed a single incident where he supposedly cured someone. All were just talks and up to today, no one has come out to verify it. Not even one," Mayor Piccio ended.
Meanwhile, Department of Health (DOH) regional director Dr. Lydia Depra-Ramos said she will have the matter investigated as the purported surgical operations conducted by Danjiros are illegal and dangerous.
She called on the people not to be attracted by said person's promise of healing as what he is doing can be considered a "malpractice."
