WV water districts get LWUA loans
The water supply improvement and expansion projects of 22 water districts in Western Visayas will get about Php 76.5 million financing from the Development Bank of the Philippines.
Local Water Utilities Administrator Lorenzo H. Jamora said the bulk of the P76.5 million fund being readied will go into financing the water supply projects of five water districts, namely Dingle-Pototan and New Lucena in Iloilo, Sibalom in Antique, and Isabela and Murcia in Negros Occidental, requiring the total amount of Php 59.5 million.
Jamora said Php 27 million has been earmarked for Dingle-Pototan, Php 17.5 million for Murcia, Php 10.5 million for sibalom, and Php 3.5 million for New Lucena.
He also said that only Php 1 million has been set aside for Isabela since the bulk of the funding for the construction of its new water system will come from the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) of Congressman Ignacio Arroyo, who hails from that place.
The balance of the funds amounting to some Php 17 million will be distributed by the LWUA in the form of commodity loan for the purchase of needed water supply materials or equipment like pipes, pumps and generator sets of 17 water districts in the region.
These water districts are Ajuy, Alimodian, Anilao, barotac Nuevo, Calinog, concepcion, Estancia, Lambunao, Leon, and Miagao in the province of Iloilo; barbaza and Tobias Fornier in Antique; Dumarao and Mambusao in Capiz; Libacao and Numancia in Aklan; and Jordan in Guimaras.
