The well-acclaimed Photographic Society of Iloilo (PSI) recently launched their new photo exhibit dubbed as "Beyond our shores". Rabid lens hobbyist gathered their most breath-taking masterpieces. This time, members of the almost 26 year-old exclusive organization exposed to the public some of the captivating documentations of their travels abroad.
In a launching held at the Newpost Supply at General Luna Street, Iloilo City last July 7, 2006, Dr. Vic Pido, a bona fide PSI member, offered a serene prayer while PSI Outgoing President Dr. Malbar Ferrer officially launched the said photo exhibit.
"Every month we, the PSI, together with the Newpost Supply, sponsor a photo exhibit with a specific theme. 'Beyond the shores' which speaks of the dynamism of the group," says Newpost Proprietor and PSI Pillar Bert Onglamsing.
The picturesque sceneries of Schloss Hohenschwangau in Germany, the exotic beauty of Thailand, adventure-packed scenes from Bush Garden in Florida, and the enchanting charm of Lake Loch Ness of Glasgow in Scotland were captured in glossy and matte papers. Likewise, the panoramic grandeurs of Melbourne in Australia and Kyoto in Japan lie side by side with that of the historical wonders like the Great Wall of China and the Independence Park in New York. Others were clippings from the travels of PSI members to places like Zugpitze in Germany, Taipei, Cologne in Germany and People's Republic of China.
Worthy to be mentioned are the "Downtown Bridge", a photograph taken by Dr. Malbar Ferrer in his previous trip to Germany, and "Beijing", which features cable cars suspended in the air and was captured by Francis de la Cruz in one of his travels to China.
See the world without leaving the city. Visit Newpost Supply and marvel at the amazing wonders of photography. The show will run until July 31st of this year.
