Treñas distances self from Gumabong
City Mayor Jerry Treñas has distanced himself from controversial City Hall employee Ricardo Gumabong saying the latter was already a City Hall employee years before he became the city mayor.
Treñas' reaction was in response to criticisms that the city government allowed Gumabong to work despite his falsified records.
The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) recently came up with a certification claiming that Gumabong is not a licensed master electrician.
The News Today learned that Gumabong became a City Hall employee in 1992, during the term of former Mayor Mansueto Malabor.
The Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) has already asked Gumabong to submit a reply on his alleged falsified records.
Treñas added that all matters concerning Gumabong is now being handled by City Legal Office (CLO). It is also up for the legal office to take a look on the recent controversy affecting Gumabong's entry to government service.
Treñas said under his term, all the regular appointments of employees passed the Personnel Selection Board (PSB) and the Civil Service Commission (CSC). He said it is not easy to approve an appointment of a person to a certain job without passing the requirements.
The applicants for the position are required to submit their clearances before their final appointment duly approved by the PSB and the CSC.
The CSC even wants us to pick the personnel without their supervision, he said.
