Church movement leads 'prayer for truth'
Various churches in Iloilo City and Guimaras under the umbrella of the Church Movement for Moral Uplift and Reconciliation (CMMUR) have begun a Nine-day Prayer for Truth (novena) starting July 16 to last until July 24 at an inter-religious prayer gathering, to unite in prayer calling for transparency and truthfulness in government and public affairs.
In announcing the novena, Bro. R.C. Gumban of the CMMUR Secretariat said that in the coming state-of the-nation address of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, she "will once again paint her sepulchers white to hide dead men's bones of her administration, and embroider exaggerated and fabricated success stories to present a fake development to convince the people that her controversial stay in power is worth supporting."
The country is in pandemonium", he says, "and, as the day of the SONA approaches, the GMA administration finds itself still haunted by unresolved issues of electoral fraud and graft and corruption, resulting in a political crisis, he added."
The venues of the prayer-reflection sessions are as follows"
St.Clement's Prayer Center on July 16; UCCP Iloilo City on July 17; CPBC on Fajardo St., Jaro on July 18; IFI Iloilo and Guimaras on July 19; IFI in La Paz with Carmelite Missionaries and SOTANA on July 20; ICCWA in Oton on July 21, Congregation of the Mission in Molo on July 22; in various parishes July 23 celebrating "Mass for Truth"; and Inter-Religious Prayer for Truth on July 24 in the morning.
