DAR turns over P11.5M road projects
Six more road projects amounting to P11.5 million were recently turned over by the Department of Agrarian Reform - Iloilo (DAR-Iloilo) to the municipality of Lemery of this province.
During the turn-over ceremony, Mayor Lowel Arban stressed the importance of these road projects in the upliftment of the lives not only of the beneficiaries but also of other people in the community.
"These road projects will not only benefit one person but all the people in the community as well," said Arban.
The newly - rehabilitated 1.30 kms. Junction National Road - Sitio Pasto Farm to Market Road (FMR) located at Velasco Agrarian Reform Community financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) - Agrarian Reform Project (ARCP) with a total cost of P2.9 million was one of the six road projects that was turned over to the said municipality, said the DAR press report.
Also, turned over were four other road projects with a total cost of P8 million locally funded by the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) Infra Projects. These are the newly rehabilitated 3.40 kms. Anabo - Dalipe, 3.40 kms. Dalipe - San Jose, 3.40 kms. Anabo - Nasapahan and 3.60 kms. Bangkal - San Antonio Farm to Market Roads. Another was the newly rehabilitated 0.60 kms. Capinahan - Sitio Balogo Road with a total cost of P500,000 implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) under the CARP Infra Program.
Aside from Mayor Arban, Vince Camba, National Project Manager and Humbert Fuentes Jr., Area Project Manager of the ADB - ARCP, DAR 6 Asst. Regional Director Juan Bolano Jr, DAR - Iloilo OIC - Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer Rodrigo Hoderial and other DAR top officials, municipal and barangay officials of Lemery attended the turn - over rites held at Brgy. Velasco of the said town.
Camba said DAR - Iloilo had turned over 30 projects under the ARCP from year 2000 to date with the total amount of P240 million, the biggest in the whole region.
With the turn-over, the municipality of Lemery has now the full responsibility for the proper operation and maintenance of the said road projects, the report added.
