THE FULLNESS OF LIFE
The Ultimate Seven: Fundamental Principles of a God-centered Life
Since youth I had been interested in discovering some guiding principles that can direct my life towards what St. Paul stated as the "pleasing, acceptable and perfect will of God" (cf. Romans 12:2). It was many years later during my silent adoration before the Blessed Sacrament that these seven fundamental principles of a God-centered life came to me in a sudden flash of illumination.
These seven principles had since then intrigued, challenged and transformed my life -- not to mention that they continue to spur me on to greater heights of integral human growth. My life also has become so enriched, more vibrant and deeply consoled.
I have shared these seven points with individuals and groups; with simple, humble rural folks as well as with professionals. I have given conferences on these seven points to the laity, the religious, and the clergy as well. And many of these people have encouraged me to put them into writings.
These seven principles are both simple and profound. They are simple that they can easily be grasped by mere children, and yet so profound that a lifetime would not be enough even for the most insightful theologian to plumb the deep wisdom and mysteries they contain.
They are properly called "the Ultimate Seven" because, as far as I know, while there are such things as "Seven Laws of Success:, "Seven Principles of Leadership", or something else (seven being the biblical number of fullness) none of these, however, can respond to the ultimate meanings of life.
These, then, are the fundamental principles of God-centered life -- the Ultimate Seven:
-
God first.
-
God is the Ultimate End.
-
God is the Source.
-
God reigns.
-
God provides.
-
God saves
-
God's perfect glory.
We will treat each point more substantially in our future reflections.
