THE FULLNESS OF LIFE
The Ultimate Seven: Fundamental principles of a God-centered Life
(2nd of a series)
1.) God First.
In the beginning, God Is. Revealing Himself to Moses, He said, “I AM WHO I AM” (Exodus 3:14). Before anything else God already exists. He who is the Beginning is without a beginning. He exists before all time and through all time and beyond all time – for eternity. In the order of existence God is first because He alone exists in the very beginning, at the first dawn of Creation and even before Time and Creation began.
God is first in the order of causality, for He is the First Cause and the Prime Mover that initiated the ripple of motions that reverberated through all Creation both spiritual and physical.
God is first in the order of being because He is our Origin and the Father of us all who brought all things into being. To Him we owe our very life and existence for “in Him we live and move and have our being.”
God is first because of the supremacy of His attributes. He is supreme in holiness, in wisdom, in power, in every good, in every virtue and in every aspect of perfection. He is rightly called the Supreme Being.
Consequently, God must be first.
God first is a fundamental option we must take to live our life to the fullest and the highest. It is the first and greatest commandment that is revealed in the Holy Scriptures: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength” (cf. Matt. 22:37-39; Mark 12:30-31; Luke 10:27).
God first is the fundamental and primeval order of all existence and the whole reality of life; any disruption or disobedience to this fundamental order will bring chaos and anarchy, death and annihilation, pain and suffering.
The only way to reverse the trend towards sin and death is to turn back to God and write down in all our agenda of life that God be first: “God First!”
