Number of monsoon rains-affected families in WV up to over 9,000
According to the latest consolidated damage report furnished by the Office of Civil Defense-Regional Disaster Coordinating Council (OCD-RDCC) VI, the monsoon rains have now affected 90 barangays and 9,235 families in Western Visayas (WV).
This report sent by the OCD-RDCC VI also showed an estimated damage worth of P382,000 on houses that have been partially and totally destroyed.
The coastal town of Guimbal in the southern part of Iloilo province bore the biggest damage on houses amounting to P310,000, followed by Iloilo City, P37,000 and Sibalom, Antique, P35,000.
As to the barangays affected, the Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council of Antique has additional report of five affected barangays with 168 families in the capital town of San Jose de Buenavista; one barangay with five families in Hamtic, two barangays with six families in Libertad, two barangays with 22 families in Culasi, and one barangay in Laua-an with 13 families, aside from this morning's report of only one barangay in Sibalom.
There are also now 43,505 persons affected of which 524 are in the evacuation centers and given food and relief assistance by the Municipal Disaster Coordinating Councils (MDCCs).
The MDCC of San Jose, Antique also extended food and relief assistance to the crew members of MV Sea Merchant that ran aground in Barangay San Angel last August 9 due to storm surge.
There are now 521 partially damaged houses and 97 totally damaged houses in the region.
In the Province of Negros Occidental, there are 233 partially damaged houses and 66 totally damaged houses.
In Antique, there are 209 partially damaged and 10 totally damaged houses.
In Guimaras, there are five partially damaged houses and one totally damaged house.
In Iloilo province, there are 53 partially damaged and 14 totally damaged houses.
In Iloilo City, there are 21 partially damaged and six totally damaged houses.
No casualties and damage on agricultural crops have been reported to the OCD-RDCC VI so far.
