TESDA honors Judy with 'Kabalikat Award'
TESDA Administrator
Agusto Boboy Syjuco with
Rep. Judy Syjuco.
Representative Judy Jalbuena-Syjuco (Second District, Iloilo ) was honored as among this year's recipient of the 2006 Kabalikat Award of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
With the ceremony among TESDA's highlights in its 12th anniversary, the lady solon was chosen for her significant contribution and continued help in pushing for manpower development programs in her district.
Scholarship, technical vocational skills training and health programs formed part of the Representative Syjuco's priority projects in partnership with TESDA and in support of the programs of her husband, TESDA Director General, Secretary Augusto "Boboy" Syjuco.
"The lady solon from Iloilo believes that people can live and work better if they are equipped with work skills," TESDA News and Features in a news release wrote. "and that they are self-sufficient, self-reliant and able to make sound decisions. Through these programs, Syjuco believes that greater understanding would be realized on how important technical-vocational education is."
Iloilo's Second District towns saw development programs through Representative Syjuco's scholarships, massive skills training, special training programs, education for all, medical missions and computer literacy.
As designed, the "Education for All" program provides access to education and training opportunities to all residents of the district. Part of this program is the distribution of computer units to the barangays.
To recall, it was also thru the lady solon's effort that "I-CARE Program" was launched where some 20,000 constituents were granted subsidized scholarship. It was here where over 13,000 recipients were trained in various livelihood skills programs. "Serbisyo Syjuco" scholarship certificates were distributed to high school graduates and ensured them "tuition fees" upon graduation to a technical vocational program of TESDA.
