Lightning raids net biggest haul of 'alien' entertainers
Joint operations of the Women and Children's Desk (WCD) of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), city government's Task Force Adam's Apple and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) got its biggest haul of arrested workers in the local entertainment industry.
A total of 28 nightspot celebrities were taken into police custody for similar violations of reporting to duty minus government-mandated work permits. The arrest came after the full-force "lightning raids" of the WCD-ICPO team alongside Task Force representatives and the Social Welfare office. Senior Inspector Erna Foerster, WCD chief said the special operation was conducted in line with the standing order of ICPO Director, Senior Supt. Norlito Bautista.
With the arrested entertainers too much for the WCD's lock-up cell capacity, the conference room served as temporary detention center for the group, most of whom still in their glittering costumes and beaded attires. Three macho dancers were amongst the 28 arrested, the group guarded within the ICPO compound overnight.
The News Today (TNT) gathered that the 'alien' entertainers were discovered in the city's "AI" nightspots such as Camp Jefferson, Gladiatior, Hot Legs, New Star, Club 88 and Ceasar's Court.
Some came from Davao and Cagayan de Oro cities.
All arrested workers now managed to post bail for their temporary liberty as charges were filed and pursued thru Senior Inspector Foerster.
Interestingly enough, TNT learned that this week posted a significant increase in the number of applications for the city's entertainers following this week's major arrest.
The raiding team all got commendations from Senior Supt. Bautista particularly Senior Insp. Foerster and her team, Senior Inspector Conrad Carcanillo of the Police Precinct 1 and his group of operatives.
No resistance was met from the entertainers nor bar owners.
Task Force Adams Apple is under the new leadership of Mayette Geremias following the successful tenure of former Task Force chief, Rose Poral. Poral ended her stint following her lost battle to cancer.
