It's STL time!
Happy times are here again for STL (Small Town Lottery) lovers.
Hundreds of bet collectors are expected to be on the move in the different parts of the city as the Iloilo City Small Town Lottery Gaming Corporation (ICSTLGC) starts its dry-run today, September 25. Bettors are also expected to troop the STL office along Arroyo Street, City Proper.
The operation of the STL, which is under the supervision of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), was favorably endorsed by the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP). The SP's recommendation through Councilor Armand Parcon, chair of the committee on games, amusement and professional sports, was based on the series of hearings conducted at the session hall and conference hall of the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
The committee conducted four public hearings mostly attended by the barangay captains of Iloilo City. The church group headed by Msgr. Meliton Oso also appeared on the first day of the hearing and expressed their strong opposition.
The ICSTLGC is headed by Barangay Captain Guillermo de la Cruz. PCSO favored the ICSTLGC over another applicant who also sought the council's and PCSO's endorsement.
The dry-run was set after the corporation posted a capital of P20 million. The P10 million is for the cash bond and another P10 million for the operating expenses. The equipment for the number draws are similar to the one used in lotto draws in Manila.
It was not immediately known how many draws they will have everyday. The draws will be supervised by PCSO regional officer Jeanette Oberio.
