PESO and IPAMS: Making the Dubai dream come true
After deploying 14 well-chosen applicants to Dubai Duty Free (DDF) last August of this year, the Iloilo Provincial Employment Services Office (PESO) under the leadership of Mr. Francis co Tirador Heler and the Industrial Personnel and Management Services, Inc. (IPAMS) conducted the 2nd Batch Orientation last October 6, 2006 at the PESO Office.
Only 32 female candidates, out of 35 applicants, were chosen to be included on the final list. These soon-to-be Dubai Duty Free employees are set to leave the country on January of 2007. The remaining aspirants will be deployed at a rate of 20 persons per month next year.
A successful applicant will receive Dhs 2000 as their basic salary, Dhs 800 for their living allowance and a deduction for housing which costs Dhs 775 within their two-year contract as sales assistant in Dubai Duty Free. The contract stressed that these applicants will be subjected to three months probation period upon employment. In return, she will be required to work eight hours per day and 48 hours per week.
The said orientation was conducted by Mr. Jay Coska, the Project Coordinator of IPAMS. IPAMS, a trusted manning agency, has been sending quality Filipino contract workers to Dubai Duty Free since 1994.
An OFWs from Dubai gave her testimony regarding the working conditions in DDF as well as pieces of advice to the future OFWs.
The PESO-IPAMS tie-up provides great employment opportunities for Ilonggos as the said recruitment was free of placement fee. Thus, easing the burden on the part of the applicants.
Amid the seem-to-be unending political and economic turmoil, PESO and IPAMS have proven their determination in helping young Ilonggos reach their dreams.
