Double homicide raps up vs. cop
Cases for double homicide have already been filed against a police mobile group leader who shot and killed two of his colleagues at a police outpost in Dueñas, Iloilo Saturday night.
The bailbond was placed at P40,000, but accused Police Officer 2 Jose Diestro, through his lawyer, filed a motion to reduce bail.
He is now detained at the Iloilo Rehabilitation Center (IRC) in Brgy. Pototan, Iloilo.
Diestro reportedly shot Police Officer 1 Limuel Paparon and Police Officer 3 Ronilo Dequito after a heated argument inside their outpost. Paparon and Dequito sustained gunshot wounds in different parts of their body which led to their death.
Based on initial police investigation, Paparon and Dequito, both assigned with the 4th Provincial Mobile Group, were accosted by their group leader PO2 Diestro for reporting late for duty and for being intoxicated. Paparon and Dequito reportedly came from Passi City for an occasion.
A heated argument arose between them at around 8:30 pm inside the police community outpost in Barangay Tinocuan, Dueñas town that led to the three pulling out their issued handguns.
It was not known yet who pulled his gun or who fired first. Police said that the two fatalities died on the spot. Diestro fled after the incident but surrendered to Zarraga PNP the following day.
Recovered from the crime scene were two caliber .45 handguns and an M16 armalite rifle.
Senior Supt. Napoleon Coronel said that there will be an investigation and that the three other police on duty at the time of the incident will be questioned for details.
